Abstract
Many techniques have been employed to recover both toxic and
newlineprecious metals from waste PCB The conventional methods such as
newlinepyrometallurgical hydrometallurgical biometallurgical and electro deposition
newlinetechniques suffer in technical and economic feasibility Apart from technical
newlineand economical infeasibility most of the conventional processes involve
newlinecombustion pyrolysis and hydration which have proven dangerous as they
newlinegenerate lot of environmental pollution Humans are often exposed to large
newlineamounts of toxic gases which are extremely harmful
newlineRecovery of both toxic and precious metals from waste PCB is an
newlineinteresting subject not only from the point of environmental aspect but also
newlinefrom the recovery of precious metals The problems associated with
newlineconventional methods and the value of the precious metals from waste PCB
newlinemotivated us to develop a new method for the recovery of both toxic and
newlineprecious metals from waste P
