Child sex ratio in Punjab emerging trends

Abstract

The study attempts to highlight emerging trends, socio-cultural and economic factors leading to the decline in child sex ratio in the overall background of situation in India as well as Punjab with regard to three sampled districts that is Muktsar, Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar and Tarn Taran. As an empirical study, it adopts human rights based approach to examine child sex ratio by connecting it with sex ratio in general and sex ratio at birth in particular. It elaborates on workable recommendations targeted at gender justice with due emphasis on creating conducive conditions of equality for girl child at the ground level. newline
