| dc.description.abstract | In this research work, an attempt was made to machine the newlineNimonic alloy utilizing the Ultrasonic Vibration assisted Electric Discharge newlineMachining (UVEDM) Process and performance was accessed in terms of newlinematerial removal rate, tool wear rate and surface roughness. The key finding newlineincludes, increase in MRR was achieved by the complete flushing of machined newlinedebris and the generation of an intensified plasma channel, while the decrease newlinein Surface Roughness (Ra) was induced by uniform heat distribution. With newlineUVEDM, machined performance was improved due to the fact that UV newlinefacilitates the homogeneous heat distribution, which was corroborated by newlineanalysing the surface topography of machined debris. Globules, pock marks, newlinecracks, pits, material doom and craters were the distinct features observed on newlinethe surface topography. The shape of the machined debris was angular, newlineerroneous circular, spherical and irregular for the UV frequency of 0,20,40 and newline60 kHz respectively. The process parameters utilized for study was optimized newlineusing the MOORA-ELECTRE Integrated Optimization Technique (MEIOT). newlineThe next phase of work was incorporating conductive and nonconductive newlinepowders in the dielectric medium with the intention of improving newlinemachining performance newline | |
