Abstract
Life skills are vital for everyone in ever changing modern world. Life Skills Training Program helps the students to deal with the challenges of life. This study designed to see the effect of life skills training program on self efficacy, happiness and academic stress among school students of Punjab. Randomized groups pre test post test design was used for this experimental study. Population was the students of senior secondary schools studying in 8th class affiliated to Punjab School Education Board of district Sri Muktsar Sahib. A sample of 171 students was selected from randomly selected two schools and divided into experimental (86 students) and control group (85students). Experimental group received 50 sessions of 10 core life skills as suggested by World Health Organization through life skills training 0program and control group was taught through traditional teaching method. Student self efficacy scale, Happiness scale and self constructed Academic stress scale were administered pre and post intervention to both the groups. The data was analyzed using ANOVA. The results indicated significant difference between life skills training program and traditional teaching method on self-efficacy, happiness and academic stress. It was recommended to integrate the Life Skills as suggested by WHO into the education system for shaping the individuals who directly impact their learning, resilience and academic success.
