Influence of organic manures and bio fertilizers on growth yield and quality of kasuri methi Trigonella corniculata L cv Pusa Kasuri

Abstract

The present investigation entitled Influence of organic manures and bio- fertilizers on growth, yield and quality of kasuri methi (Trigonella corniculata L.) cv. Pusa Kasuri was conducted at Experimental Field, Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Gwalior (M.P.). Kasuri methi member of the family Fabaceae is an herbaceous, bushy, slow growing annual spice crop mainly grown for herbage that to dry herb. Kasuri methi is a multipurpose crop. Its every part is useful and is utilized in one or the other forms as food, fodder, medicine and in cosmetics. The indiscriminate and continuous application of chemical fertilizers causes soil and environmental degradation and also increases the cost of cultivation of the crop. Bio-fertilizers are one of the important nutrient sources in the integrated nutrient management system. Application of bio-fertilizers helps in fixing the nitrogen, mobilizes the availability of nutrients and also helps in build up of the micro flora. Combination effect of organic manures and nitrogen fixing biofertilizers and phosphate solubilizing bacterium helps to increase the availability of nutrients. The experiment was laid out in the Randomized Block Design with three replications. Each replication was comprised of sixteen treatments consisting organic manures i.e. FYM and Vermicompost and bio-fertilizers i.e. Rhizobium, PSB and KSB were applied for enhancing the growth, yield and quality of kasuri methi. It can be concluded from the result the various treatments of organic manures i.e. FYM and Vermicompost and bio-fertilizers i.e. Rhizobium, PSB and KSB were statistically enhance the growth, yield and quality parameters of kasuri methi. The treatment T14 - FYM (16 t/ha) + Vermicompost (4 t/ha) + Rhizobium (10 ml/kg seed) + PSB (10 ml/kg seed) + KSB (10 ml/kg seed) found newline newlinestatistically superior organic manure and biofertilizer treatment as compared to rest of treatments. It was recorded that the maximum net returns (and#8377; 250189 /ha) in pooled was noted under treatment T13 - Vermicom
