Optimal integration of hybrid renewable distributed generation to the Indian distribution network

Abstract

Power sector is a huge electrical entity that deals with the generation transmission and distribution of electricity to its consumers Rapid industrialization and modernization led to the development of several gadgets that simplified life This increased the dependence on electricity and the number of non linear loads The burden of this growth is greater on the Distribution System DS which is the fag end of power system directly linking the power sector to these highly variable non linear loads Rise in the demand for electricity must be met by an equal increase in generation Increasing the capacity of conventional centralized generating stations to meet the increase in demand is infeasible in developing countries like India This is owed to the huge investments required to increase the capacity of existing generating plants and to reinforce the existing transmission and distribution networks to be able to safely carry the increase in generation This led the government of India to initiate and support the installation and integration of small scale load end generation units called Distributed Generation DG further increasing the complexity of DS Indian government provides incentives for the installation and integration of renewable energy based DGs into the already existing DS This has led to the achievement of the governments motives of supplying electricity to all Renewable energy based DGs however fail to sustain in the DS grid owing to several reasons like improper planning lack of incentives for operation and maintenance inaccurate prediction and operation inadequate protection schemes etc newline
