This study explores the utilization of industrial steel scrap and foundry returns for the newlineproduction of alloyed grey cast iron. This study also focuses on the possibility of replacing newlinethe costly alloying elements such as tin, molybdenum with cheap copper as the co-alloying newlineelement to decrease the overall cost of grey cast iron production. The scrap materials along newlinewith ferrosilicon and petroleum coke were melted in a medium-frequency induction furnace newlineto prepare the grey cast iron master alloy. The molten metal underwent homogenization in a newlinechannel holding furnace before the addition of alloying elements such as copper, tin, and newlinemolybdenum as alloying elements in various combinations. The effect of these alloying newlineelements and composition on different properties such as microstructure, fracture behaviour, newlinetensile strength, hardness, and wear resistance. newline
