Design and implementation of secure data aggregation protocol in wireless sensor networks

Abstract

Wireless Sensor Networks WSN can provide low cost solutions to newlinevariety of real world problems Sensors are low cost tiny devices with limited newlinestorage computational capability and power WSN have proved to be useful newlinein several applications such as environment monitoring perimeter newlinesurveillance etc In a large sensor network data aggregation i e the data newlinefrom various sources is merged and rerouted significantly reduces the newlineamount of communication and energy consumption The main security issues newlinelike data confidentiality and integrity becomes vital when the sensor network newlineis deployed in a hostile environment There has been many related work newlineproposed to address these security issues newlineHowever in the existing secure data aggregation techniques newlinereduction in the energy consumption is not much discussed The combined newlinesolution for both integrity and authentication is also not addressed In addition newlineto this serious security threat is caused by node capture attacks where an newlineadversary gains full control over a sensor node through direct physical access newlinewhich creates a high risk of data confidentiality newline newline
