Photo chemical Investigations of some medicinal Plants of J and K area

Abstract

This thesis describes the phytochemical studies on some medicinal plants of Jammu and Kashmir State especially of the valley proper The plants were choosen on the basis of their known medicinal properties and all are high altitude plants which were gathered at the heights of 6000 ft and above At the time this study was undertaken no work on plant products was being done in the department In the absence of proper facilities for phytochemical work it would have been impractical to engage in investigations of the type which require sophisticated equipment and too much spectroscopic support The programme of work was therefore so designed as to provide guidlines for the future and help in development of this kind of work locally newlineIn this connection it may be mentioned that this is the first report of phytochemical studies on the plants reported in this thesis newline
