Abstract
newline Security is an important factor for human survival. There are various types of challenges that
newlineare linked with the term security. It is a dynamic concept and changing with time and
newlinecircumstances. In international relations, from the post-cold war era until now there has been
newlinea considerable shift in its meaning. The concept has undergone a major shift from the security
newlineof the state to the security of the human being. The emergence of globalization and changing
newlinenature of threats are the reason behind the development of the concept of human security, which
newlineis necessary for regional, national and global stability. There are various threats and challenges
newlineattached to the term like the spread of disease, environmental issues, migration, drug trafficking
newlineetc.
newlineAmong various insecurities health issues specifically, the spread of diseases emerged as a very
newlineimportant issue after the launch of globalization. The diseases are no longer confined within a
newlineparticular region or nation it crosses the border very easily creating an alarming situation. There
newlineare various examples, which showed that diseases started from one place had spread across the
newlinewhole world. Therefore, to halt and make the whole world stable it is necessary to stop the
newlinespread of diseases, as good health is very important for the development of a country. However,
newlineit is very much difficult for a particular country to handle the situation alone due to the intensity
newlineof diseases it need a concentrated efforts.
newlineThere are various organisations working for the betterment of health for the whole world
newlineamong them WHO is the most important agency. Emerged after the post-world War II in the
newlineenvironment of conflict and tension WHO successfully live up to the expectation of the
newlinecommunity, which struggled to establish it. From then to till now there were various changes
newlinein the institution and it faced a lot of criticism. Thus, the study tries to defend WHO as relevant
newlineas well as an important actor in the field of health.
