Abstract

The escalating global concerns over environmental contamination and the adverse effects of toxic herbicides used in agro-farms on human and animal systems have necessitated innovative, affordable, practically implementable and sustainable remedies. This thesis explores a novel approach by leveraging the unique properties of fish scales for the development of sustainable biomatrices capable of multi-analytical spectroscopy and the efficient excision of toxic herbicides from sewages. newlineThis study begins with the extraction and purification of fish scales from ethically sourced aquatic species, followed by a comprehensive characterization of their physical, chemical, and structural properties. Through bio-engineering techniques, the fish scales are modified to enhance their light transmit-ability, adsorption capacity and spectroscopic attributes, making them suitable candidates for environmental applications. newline
