ABSTRACT
newlineIntroduction
newlineHuman stature is a vital anthropometric parameter used extensively in the
newlinefields of forensic science, anthropology, orthopedics, ergonomics, and clinical
newlineassessment. It is one of the most defining characteristics of an individual and plays a
newlinecritical role in personal identification, especially in medico-legal contexts such as
newlinemass disasters, accidents, and cases of unidentified decomposed or skeletal remains.
newlineIn such scenarios, when the entire body is not available, the estimation of stature from
newlinepartial remains such as long bones becomes essential. Among the long bones, the tibia
newlineis particularly valuable because of its substantial contribution to total stature and its
newlinerelatively higher preservation rate in skeletal remains.
newlinePrevious studies have established correlations between long bone length and
newlinestature; however, these relationships have been found to vary significantly among
newlinedifferent ethnic groups, age brackets, sexes, and geographical regions due to genetic,
newlineenvironmental, nutritional, and socioeconomic factors. Therefore, the development of
newlinepopulation-specific and sex-specific regression models is indispensable for accurate
newlinestature estimation. Despite the vast anthropological diversity of India, there exists a
newlinerelative paucity of data specific to the Rajasthani population, particularly involving
newlineyoung adults. This study was conceptualized to fill this gap by establishing regression
newlineequations to estimate stature from percutaneous tibial length in healthy male and
newlinefemale individuals of Rajasthani origin. The lower limb length is the greatest
newlinecontributor to the standing height, hence the most predictive equation are based on
newlinelength of lower limb, the femur, Tibia and fibula. The tibia is ideal in this application
newlineand easily approachable. So some anthropologists say that reconstruct stature from
newlinedifferent part of body to identify of the individuality of human being .
