Abstract
Transit station and its immediate surroundings are related with respect to change
newlinein land use, increase in population density and growth of better infrastructure
newlinefacilities. The developmental impact of Chennai Metro Rail Station on land use
newlinewithin its influence zone is evaluated for Chennai Metro Rail Corridor (CMRC)
newlinePhase 1 in Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA).
newlineInfluence zone of the transit station was identified as 800-meter radius
newlinesurrounding the station as per National TOD Policy, and the parameters which
newlineinfluence the developments were classified as primary and secondary based on
newlineits importance recognized through the literature review. The metro stations
newlinewhich were operational during primary survey were ranked based on the
newlineidentified parameters with the available secondary data. Three stations were
newlinerandomly selected based on its ranking, i.e., 5th, 10th and 15th rank.
