Abstract
Creativity is measured as a vital component of innovation, a highly honoured
newlineresource for sustainable competitiveness and long term business success. The
newlinemultinational businessmen, academicians and policy makers have given importance
newlineto this subject. Creativity research is an ever-growing and multifaceted field in the
newlineworld wide sector. Creativity, in the field of research has grown over the decades and
newlinetoday it includes a wide variety of approaches from diverse disciplines. The human
newlineresource strategy approach to the study of creativity has been relatively understudied
newlinein the hospitality industry.
newlineThe current dissertation addresses the research question in relation to what
newlineextent human resources strategy affects the creativity of employees in the hotels. This
newlinestudy has taken an effort to examine and analyse the employees Intrinsic Motivation,
newlinePsychological Empowerment, Perceived Organisational Support, Creative Process
newlineEngagement and Employee Creativity among the hotel employees in Chennai. This
newlinestudy was conducted from a sample of 456 employees in luxury hotel organizations
newlinein Chennai. The data was collected by questionnaire method and the respondents
newlinewere the employees of the luxury hotels in Chennai. The sampling technique used for
newlinethe study is simple Random Sampling and the lottery Method is the sampling method
newlineused to select the samples.
newlineThe findings reveal that Intrinsic Motivation, Psychological Empowerment,
newlinePerceived Organisational Support has a significant influence on the employee
newlinecreativity. The study examines and finds an association between Intrinsic Motivation,
newlinePsychological Empowerment and Perceived Organisational Support of the
newlineemployees. There is a significant association between creativity process engagement
newlineand employee creativity among the employees. The research also finds out that the
newlinework pressure and interruptions from higher employees significantly predict poor
newlinecreativity among the employees and that the support from the organisations plays a
newlinevital part in the development of the employee creativity.
newlineFinally the research is a study on the condition of reality faced by the
newlineemployees in the hotel industry. As the pressure at work and interruption in
newlinecompleting task was dominant in determining the poor or no creative output by the
newlineemployees. Therefore the study reveals that if sufficient work support from the
newlinesubordinates, co-workers, managers, senior managers and organization was
newlineexchanged then this unfavourable output of employee creativity could be eliminated.
