The nexus between economic development and health is complex. As societies in tropical regions experience economic growth, there is a discernible shift in lifestyle choices, characterized by altered dietary patterns, reduced physical activity, and increased exposure to environmental risk factors. These lifestyle changes, often associated with urbanization and globalization, contribute substantially to the surge in NCDs, including CKD. It is imperative for public health initiatives to evolve in tandem with these changes, transitioning from the traditional infectious disease-centric model to a more inclusive and holistic framework that encompasses the multifaceted challenges posed by NCDs. newlineEfforts to address CKD on a global scale require a multifaceted approach, involving newlinenot only healthcare systems but also public health education, policy development, and community engagement. Integrating these elements into a cohesive strategy will be essential to effectively combat the burgeoning burden of CKD in the context of the evolving health landscape in tropical countries. In doing so, it becomes possible to safeguard the well-being of populations and foster sustainable development that is inherently intertwined with the health and prosperity of nations. End-stage renal disease (ESRD), also known as kidney failure, is characterized by an eGFR less than 15 ml/min/1.73 m2 (Kimmel and Peterson, 2005). ESRD can be effectively addressed through either supportive care or kidney replacement therapy (KRT), encompassing modalities such as dialysis (including hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) or kidney transplantation. newline
