Design and Implementation of Energy Efficient Meta Heuristic Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Network

Abstract

newline Wireless sensor networks (WSN) have made a huge impact on societal factors. However, it is observed that the battery of sensor nodes is very limited and to cover up the battery constraints various research efforts are made globally. To address this concern through the network layer by following the routing method approach, various routing strategies are reported in the literature study so far. The heterogeneous routing protocols perform optimally better than the homogeneous ones, due to the provision of assigning more energy to the nodes deployed in the network. Furthermore, it is seen that Mobile Energy-Efficient and Connected (MEEC) and Genetic Algorithm-based Optimized Clustering (GAOC) protocols have outperformed the other protocols in terms of various performance metrics. Therefore, the selection of CH which is the prominent focus of this work, will be targeted to improve the methodology adopted in MEEC and GAOC protocols. The selection of cluster heads (CHs) could be improved with the incorporation of various factors namely, residual energy, node density, distance and many others.
