Abstract
Present research work was carried out to evaluate the effects of dietary
newlinesupplementation of amylolytic enzyme and#945;-amylase and proteolytic enzyme, papain on
newlinegrowth performance, survival and bioenergetic parameters for fingerlings of common
newlinecarp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758). Supplementation of feed with exogenous
newlineenzymes has been proved to improvise the growth performance of various food
newlineanimals by improving digestion and utilisation of the feed.
newlineThe indoor feeding experiment I and II were conducted for 42 days of rearing
newlineperiod following complete randomized block design with four replicates for each
newlinetreatment to asses the growth performance and survival of fingerlings of C. carpio
newlinewhile experiment III and IV were conducted for 10 days to assess bioenergetic
newlineparameters of C. carpio fingerlings. Five experimental diets (40 % protein) namely
newlineT0, T1, T2, T3 and T4 supplemented with 0.0 %, 0.1 %, 0.2 %, 0.3 % and 0.4 % of and#945;-
newlineamylase respectively were prepared by using groundnut oil cake, fish meal, rice bran
newlineand wheat flour, whereas another five experimental diets were used with
newlinesupplementation of papain at the rate of 0.0 %, 0.1 %, 0.2 %, 0.3 % and 0.4 %.
newlineExperimental diet supplemented with and#945;-amylase were used for experiment I and III
newlinewhereas papain supplemented experimental diet were used for experiments II and IV
newlinerespectively.
newlineIn experiment I, maximum length gain (30.67 %), weight gain (185.84 %)
newlineand specific growth rate (2.33 %) were attained by the fingerlings of C. carpio fed
newlinewith T4 diet (0.4% and#945;-amylase) during 42 days of rearing period. These growth
newlineparameters of C. carpio fingerlings fed with T4 diets were significantly higher (P lt
newline0.05) from those C. carpio fingerlings fed with T0 diet, whereas statistical analysis
newlinedid not revealed any significant variation (P gt 0.05) among the growth parameters of
newlineC. carpio fingerlings fed with T1, T2, T3 and T4 diets. Therefore, low level of and#945;-
newlineamylase incorporation (0.1 %) in diet of fingerlings of C. carpio was cost effective
newlineand showed improved growth performance of C.
