Abstract

Water is vital to existence of all forms of life on earth. Man in his eternal quest for a better newlinestandard of living have used and overused the water resources. Especially in the coal newlinemining regions, groundwater is vulnerable to contamination and may create an adverse newlineimpact on the environment. Disposal of mine water, depreciation of the water table, newlinediversion of hydrological pathways and interaction of contaminated leachate with water newlinebodies are the main causes for degradation of water. Keeping above problems in mind, an newlineintegrated and comprehensive study has been carried out in the Ib valley area using newlinedifferent approaches such as water quality modelling, hydrogeochemistry, multivariate newlinestatistical analysis, pumping tests and electrical resistivity surveys. newline
