Abstract
The rural livelihoods sustainability is presently at stake than ever before, in the
newlineface of economic relaxation. In rural areas Livelihoods options are pulled back in general
newlineand more so in eco-fragile regions, such as drought, hilly areas and rainfed districts. In
newlinecrop production rural people in rainfed areas are increasingly dependent on livestock
newlinerearing due to low productivity and uncertainty. The present study entitled Constraints
newlinefaced in dairying by dairy farmers of Nanded District was taken up with the
newlineobjectives of work out, To study the feeding, breeding, health care and veterinary services
newlineconstraints faced by dairy farmer, to study the livestock manage mental constraints faced
newlineby dairy farmer and to study the marketing of milk constraints faced by dairy farmer
newlineIt also aimed to identify the Analysis of proximate principles of feed sample in the study
newlinearea. To achieve the above objectives a sample of 160 households were selected
newlinerandomly from sixteen tehsils, diferent villages from each tehsil were selected randomly
newlinein Nanded district of Maharashtra.
newlineFor the present study multi-stage sampling method was adopted. Nanded district
newlinewas selected as the universe of the present study. District is divided in to talukas which
newlinewas considered as strata. Villages from each stratum were chosen randomly which were
newlineconsidered as a primary sampling unit and finally from each talukas 10 dairy farmer
newlinehaving more than two milch animals had been selected as the final sampling unit of the
newlinestudy. So, a stratified random sampling method was used for the sample selection of the
newlinestudy.
newlineQuestionnaire survey was used to collect primary data from the dairy farmer. The
newlinequestions asked regarding the type of breed, feeding practices, housing, water
newlineavailability, marketing of milk, land available for cultivation of fodder crops and
newlineveterinary services etc.
newlineA target sample size for the study was 160 dairy farmer having more than two
