Flow separation is considered to be the detachment of fluid (air, for instance) newlinefrom an object and is considered to be an important phenomenon for most of aircraft newlinesituations, especially, while the aircraft is landing and taking-off. High lift is newlinerequired mainly for take-off and landing. Due to the curvature changes or strong newlinepressure gradient, the laminar boundary layer formed over an object separate from newlinethe object and this separated layer is unstable. The unstable detached layer may newlineproduce vortices and may also undergo flow transition from laminar to turbulence. newlineThe resulting turbulent flow could make air flow reattach to the object surface newlineforming a turbulent boundary layer. In this work Enhancement of Lift and drag for newlineNACA0012 airfoil by introducing dimples is studied in detail. Dimples of various newlinegeometrical shapes like square, rectangle and triangle were considered. A detailed newlineanalysis for these shaped has been carried out by developing a 3D model using newlineCATIA V5 software and Flow analysis was done using ANSYS CFX. Based on the newlinecomputational results, square dimples have yielded better results is considered for newlineexperimental work. Heat transfer characteristic of the dimples is also studied during newlinethe computational analysis to study the temperature effects on the dimpled airfoil.
