dc.description.abstractnewline Smart farmers are using innovative processes in agriculture. India needs to adopt newlineworld s best agricultural practices to raise her production and productivity. Around newline65% of Indian economy depends on agriculture. We need to modernize farming newlinepractices and enhance farmer s income to ameliorate their condition. Traditional newlineagricultural practices are consuming excessive quantity of water, energy, fertilizers newlineand pesticides etc with the result that fertility of land and ground water are decreasing newlineevery year. Occasional lack of rains and reduction in surface water is also creating newlineproblems of water availability for irrigation purposes. Scarce agricultural resources newlineare being used excessively in the absence of scientific tools and technologies. ICT newline,Automation and WSN technologies can be used to mitigate the harmful effects of newlineexperience based irrigation methodologies. newlineICT has the potential to increase crop growth and productivity in agriculture. newlineApplication of wireless sensor technology in micro irrigation projects can raise newlineproductivity per unit of water, minimize consumption of water and energy, and reduce newlineuse of manual labor in agriculture farms. WSN technology can be used in a variety of newlineapplications, but there are many challenges and constraints in deployment of sensor newlinenetworks in large areas. Systemic challenges include immense scale, limited access newlineand dynamic monitoring. Integration of actuation techniques and wireless sensor newlinenetworking can be used in myriad ways. Mobile ad-hoc networks can be used to newlinecreate and analyze different parameters in large spacio-temporal environments.
