Abstract
Knowledge of thermophysical properties of pure liquids and respective mixtures and their variation with temperatures are important for practical and theoretical purposes. The thermophysical properties of liquid mixtures are an invaluable data for the chemical engineer in the design and optimization of industrial processes. Data on some of the properties associated with the pure liquids and liquid mixture like density, viscosity, refractive index and ultrasonic velocities find extensive application in solution theory and molecular dynamics. Any problem associated with heat, momentum and mass transfer necessitate knowledge of thermophysical properties and their difference with temperature. These results are also necessary for thermochemical, electrochemical, biochemical and kinetic studies. Recently there has been considerable progress in the studies on intermolecular interactions and the internal structure of liquid mixtures. Studies on different thermophysical properties of liquid mixtures within a wide range of composition and temperatures are valuable sources of information that may be used to examine the relation between the structure of the system and its physical properties. Though a lot of work has been done in the case of pure liquids, data on thermophysical properties of liquid mixtures are not available in many systems. Hence the thermophysical properties of liquid mixtures have been studied for many binary liquid mixtures. Therefore in the present investigation, thermophysical properties of the following binary liquid mixtures at 303.15 K, 313.15 K and 323.15 K have been studied.
