Abstract
The purpose of the study was to find out the effects of intensive interval
newlineand fartlek trainings on selected physical and physiological parameter of
newlineFootball school boys. To achieve the purpose of the study, forty five (n=45)
newlineSchool Football players who played at District level were selected from
newlineTirunelveli Educational District, Tamilnadu, India. The selected subjects were
newlinerandomly assigned into three groups of fifteen (n=15) each, such as Group I
newline(n=15) underwent intensive interval training, Group II (n=15) underwent
newlinefartlek training for a duration of 12 weeks and the number of sessions per week
newlinewas confined to three alternative days, in addition to the regular schedule of the
newlinecurriculum and Group III (n=15) acted as control. The following dependent
newlinevariables were selected for this study such as speed, speed endurance, muscular
newlineendurance (Physical variables) and resting pulse rate, blood pressure and peak
newlineflow rate (physiological variables). As per the available literatures, the
newlinestandardized tests were used to collect relevant data on the selected dependent
newlinevariables. The following independent variables were selected for this study
newlinesuch as intensive interval training and fartlek training programmes. The pre and
newlinepost test randomized control group design was used as experimental design. No
newlineattempt was made to divide the groups in any manner. The collected data from
newlinethe three groups prior to and immediately after the training programme on
newlineselected criterion variables were statistically analyzed with dependent t test to
newlinefind out the significant improvement between pre and post- test means of both
newlinegroups and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out the
newlinesignificant difference between experimental and control groups. Whenever the
newline F ratio for adjusted test was found to be significant, the Scheffe s test was
newlineapplied as post-hoc test to find out paired mean difference. In all the cases 0.05
newlinelevel of significant was fixed to test the hypothesis. In conclusions, the
newlineintensive interval training and fartlek
