| dc.description.abstract | Parkinson s disease (PD), a neurodegenerative central nervous system disorder, is newlinecharacterized by progressive loss of nigrostriatal neurons in basal ganglia. Stress-induced newlinedopaminergic (DAergic) neuronal death in the midbrain region is the primary cause of newlineParkinson s disease (PD). Approximately 2% of the global population aged above 65 years newlineis affected with PD. Various factors are responsible for the death of DAergic neurons, newlineamong which mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, misfolded protein aggregation, newlineand neuroinflammation are the primary factors. Previous studies regarding PD have newlinesuggested the role of oxidative stress along with neuroinflammation in neurodegeneration. newlineAfter the discovery of L-dopa, multiple drugs were discovered to improve the lifestyle of newlinePD patients, but they failed due to their multiple side effects. newline | |
