dc.description.abstractIt is estimated that by 2020, India will have more than half of its population under the age of newline25 while the developed economies of the world will face a shortfall of about 40 million newlinehighly skilled workers. Driven by these reports, successive Indian Governments have newlinepushed policies to reap this demographic dividend. One such measure is to increase capacity newlineof higher education by way of private participation. This has resulted in more than 850 newlineuniversities with around 42000 affiliated colleges enrolling nearly 30 million students as newlinereported by UGC and MHRD in their various reports. newlineHowever, none of these 850 universities and around 42000 affiliated colleges including the newlineIITs and IIMs figure in the top 100 institutes / universities in the world by any of the ranking newlineagencies. That is to say that while there has been exponential growth in terms of numbers newlinei.e. quantity, a lot needs to be done in terms of quality of higher education in India. newlineAmongst many a ways to improve quality education, one such measure of quality newlineenhancement in a higher education institute is the Knowledge Management Systems . newlineExtant literature study in the area of applicability of knowledge management in higher newlineeducation sector reveals that their certain gaps which raises following questions: newline
