ABSTRACT
newlineTitle: Anatomical Study of Certain Yogasanas in Management of Manyastambha
newlineBackground:
newlineThis thesis undertakes the effect of certain Yogaasanas in management of
newlineManyastambha to identify the anatomical explanation of these Aasanas applied in this
newlinestudy and to establish the standardized data with the help of subjective parameters and
newlinehow this data may be beneficial in the management of Manyastambha (cervical
newlinespondylosis).
newlineProblem Statement:
newlineResearch question- Can Yogasanas help alleviate symptoms of Manyastambha
newline(cervical spondylosis)?
newlineHypothesis:
newlineNull hypothesis (HO): Practice of selected Yogasanas has no significant effect on
newlineanatomical or functional outcomes in individuals with Manyastambha.
newlineAlternative hypothesis (H1): Regular practice of selected Yogasanas significantly
newlineimproves anatomical and functional outcomes in individuals with Manyastambha.
newlineAim:
newlineThe primary objective of the study was to assess the effect of Yogasanas in
newlineManyastambha (cervical spondylosis) and evaluate changes in range of motion using a
newlineUniversal Goniometer after performing Aasanas.
newlineMethodology:
newlineThis was a single-arm interventional study. The selected Asanas were
newlineadministered to subjects, preferably during morning hours with empty stomach. The
newlineAsanas were practised for period of 30 days, with daily sessions conducted in the
newlinemorning for 30 minutes. and patients were assessed before and after therapy based on
newlineparameters such as Pain in the neck, Headache, Numbness/tingling sensation in the arm,
newlinePain with neck movements, Weakness of the arm etc.
