Abstract

The short stories of Khushwant Singh and Ruskin Bond has acquired relevance in Indian creative context as the stories of Khushwant Singh displays the glimpse of Punjabi Culture and Ruskin Bond writes about the uncomplicated things in life and raises the experience to the sublime.Through their short stories the reader is able to visualize the scenario of Indian life through social and literary lens. Therefore, the present research work explores the critical,social and literary dimensions in Indian English Literature, Khushwant Singh (b.1915), and Ruskin Bond(b.1934). Further the research attempts to understand various concepts, ideology, social fidelity, Social Consciousness of pre and post- independence era in India. By thoroughly analysing the short stories of Khushwant Singh and Ruskin Bond, the study project concludes by providing some critical perceptions on the social awareness of modern India. newline
