| dc.description.abstract | Noise Mapping for Ahmedabad city was carried out using GIS system. Total 30 routes were selected across Ahmedabad city for collection of data. Sound Level Meter and hand held GPS navigation apparatus were used for collection of data on 633 locations. Noise contour was developed for the Ahmedabad city. Color hatching was also done for the area covered by respective value of contour of noise to know that which part of the city is hot as well as cool with respect to noise. Number of people of the city suffering from different noise level was found out. Remedial measures to abate noise were also suggested. A model was developed to predict noise level. The developed model was validated by t-test and R squared test. From literature review it was found that no one has done noise mapping of Ahmedabad city. No one has found what number of people are suffering from what level of noise and no one has suggested systematically that what remedial steps should be taken to save people of Ahmedabad city from adverse impact of noise and hence, it was necessary to predict noise keeping in view of different factors affecting noise. Considering to above fact Noise Mapping of Ahmedabad city was carried out using GIS system. For Noise Mapping total 29 routes were selected in manner that starting point of route lies to city centre and end point of route lies out of city area. Principal of Trigonometric leveling was used for generation of contour map. Arc GIS software was used for generation of contour for Noise. Software was used for calculating area covered by different value of contour. From Noise Mapping it was found that Ahmadabad city is a noisy city. Approx. 84.99% area of Ahmadabad city has noise level equal to or more than 70 dB. 63,11,682 people of the city are suffering from noise level of 70 dB. Maximum Noise Level was observed 82.3 dB while Minimum noise level was observed as 40.6 dB. Sabarmati River divides the city into two physically distinct areas. Eastern part and western part.
