Abstract

Pulpotomy involves the removal of coronal pulp and the remaining newlineradicular pulp is preserved with a type of medicament. The main objective newlineof pulpotomy is to preserve the vitality of the pulp in the radicular portion. newlineDue to recent knowledge on the toxicity of formocresol, calcium silicate newlinecements have been found to be a good substitute. newlineAim newlineTo develop a calcium silicate material and assess its clinical and newlineradiographic success in pulpotomy procedures in primary teeth and newlinecompare the material developed with Biodentine and MTA. newlineMaterials and Method newlineA double blinded randomised control trial was conducted in 60 children newlinebetween the ages of 3 to 8 who required pulpotomy in any one of the newlineprimary mandibular molars. The children were divided into 3 groups with newline20 teeth in each. Pulpotomy treatment was conducted and the pulpotomy newlinematerial was placed and restored with Glass Ionomer cement. Stainless newlinesteel crowns were given as a final restoration. The clinical and newlineradiographic success were evaluated at 1,3,6,9,12 months using Zurn newlineand Seale criteria. newline
