Research in recent decades sheds light on people s detrimental workplace behaviors. Ostracism occurs in a workplace social setting that is influenced by negative work events occurring in the social environment. Ostracism is pervasive in educational institutions. Research evidence shows that ostracism of all kinds is endemic in higher education. The purpose of the study was to examine the reasons for and various forms of ostracism that faculty members face newlineat higher educational institutions and to recommend solutions to prevent ostracism. Today s organizations are considering the employee s family situation along with the work situation as the former impacts the latter majorly in terms of work performance. A happy employee is a productive employee. Hence, family-work spillover is an important aspect to be considered in the assessment of employee wellness. In the present study, family-work spillover is considered a moderator in the relationship between workplace ostracism and employee detrimental newlineattitudes. Drawing on the affective events theory, this study examines the relationship newlinebetween workplace ostracism and the antecedents and consequences of workplace ostracism. newlineData is collected from 536 faculty members working in Higher Educational Institutions having NAAC A and A+ grades in Andhra Pradesh. Data is collected by using a questionnaire. Data analysis is carried out for both qualitative data and quantitative data. SPSS and Smart PLS 4 software are used to conduct data analysis. Results indicate that abusive supervision, interpersonal newlineconflict, and interpersonal distrust have a significant positive relationship with workplace ostracism. Rumination is the significant moderator in the relationship between workplace ostracism and cynicism. Workplace ostracism leads to rumination that further leads to emotional numbness and cynicism. Various implications, limitations of the study, and recommendations newlinefor future studies are discussed. newline
