Abstract
The search for of alternative fuels has been driven by the depletion of fossil fuel
newlinereserves, the environmental impact of burning fossil fuels, and the increasing need for
newlineenergy. Biodiesels may be produced from both edible and non-edible feedstocks,
newlinehowever the latter is more likely to be employed because to the unaffected availability
newlineof the edible feedstock. The aim of the present work is to study the stability and
newlinephysicochemical properties of metal oxide and non metal oxides namely graphene
newlineoxide (GO) and Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles dispersed Mahua biodiesel blend
newline(B20). The GO and ZnO nanoparticles were considered at 75 mg/L. Furthermore, the
newlinesurfactant (CTAB) and dispersant (TWEEN 80) were added to 75 mg/L nanoparticles
newlineat different proportions, namely, 1:02, 1:0.4, 1:0.6, 1:0.8, and 1:1 ratio, respectively.
newlineThe process of dispersion of nanoparticles in B20 was performed using a sonicator.
newlineFurther the stability analysis of nanoparticles dispersed in B20 was performed by UV
newlinephoto spectroscopy principle and evaluated by absorbance and transmittance approach.
newlineThe stability analysis was performed in three different time periods, namely, week 1,
newlineweek 2, and week 3 respectively. Stability was better for dispersant-based nanofuel than
newlinefor surfactant-based nanofuel and base fuel. Among all the tested fuels, B20+GO 75
newlinemg/L+TWEEN 80 75 mg/L and B20+ ZnO 75 mg/L+TWEEN 80 75 mg/L showed
newlinebetter dispersion stability than the other samples throughout the period. Moreover, the
newline1:1 ratio of dispersant and surfactant gave tremendous dispersion stability compared to
newlinethe remaining ratios. The higher absorption of 4.58 and lower transmission of 87.7%
newlinewere obtained with B20+GO 75 mg/L+TWEEN 80 75 mg/L. In addition, the fuel
newlineproperties were evaluated using ASTM standards. On the other hand, the results for
newlineviscosity, density, and flash point were not quite consistent, while the calorific value
newlineand cetane number were improved. The best fuel properties such as calorific value and
