dc.description.abstractAn Expatriates life is like a challenge to live in a culturally diverse environment and newlineworkplace and try to adjust their living according to the cross-culture environment. It newlineis quite challenging for Indian IT expatriates to work in that kind of environment and newlinewhether they are satisfied in that workplace or not. Expatriate employees are one of newlinethe key success enablers for any global IT organization. Hence, having a strong and newlineencouraging Expatriate, International Human Resource Management (IHRM) newlinepolicies and practices are critical for any IT organization to retain its employees. newlineMajor IHRM areas on international assignment are job factors, pre-departure newlinetraining, compensation and allowance, family and cross-culture adjustment, newlinesupervisor role, promotional opportunity, developing new skills and social newlineacceptance to work culture that influence expatriate satisfaction. Since there are newlinenumerous changes taking place in the world economy, it is extremely difficult to newlinemaintain the satisfaction level among expatriates. In the light of this, the research newlineproblem of the study was How IHRM practices are affecting expat satisfaction of Indian newlineexpatriates employees in IT Sector? To examine this problem, various objectives were newlinedesigned. The first objective was to understand the demographic profile of the Indian newlineorigin IT expats in Asia and outside Asia, secondly, to understand the IHRM factors newlineinfluencing expat satisfaction among Indian origin IT expats in Asia (Thailand, newlineMalaysia and Singapore) and outside Asia (US and UK), thirdly to relatively analyze newlinethe impact of these IHRM factors on an overall Expat satisfaction and fourthly to newlineix newlineunderstand the impact of demographics on the factors of overall Expat satisfaction, in newlineorder that the expatriates were overall satisfied and continue staying with the firm. It newlinewas also worth analyzing, what changes have occurred in these IHRM strategies in newlinethe light of recent global economic crisis that our world is experiencing. newline
