Design and development of indoor air purifier using activated biochar derived from agriculture crop residue

Abstract

The present study was undertaken to design and development of an indoor air newlinepurifier using activated biochar produced from agricultural crop residues and its newlineapplication for air purification. The feasibility of biomass feedstock s such as raw newlinebamboo (B) and rice husk (RH) was tested for biochar production in a vacuum newlinepyrolysis reactor. Raw bamboo biomass showed a higher biochar yield of around newline34.25 %, followed by rice husk of about 33.75 % at 500 oC, by keeping residence time newlinein the 60 120 min range under a reduced pressure of 15-20 kPa. The biochar obtained newlinefrom bamboo and rice husk biomass samples was activated using a chemical newlineactivation method to produce activated biochar. The physicochemical characterization newlineof biomass, its biochar s and activated biochar were done using proximate and newlineultimate analysis, TG-DTG analysis, BET analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, and P-XRD newlineanalysis in an advanced laboratory.Contd..... newline
