Abstract

The electrical characterization of compound semiconductors is pivotal in determining their suitability for device applications, as it provides essential insights into their electronic properties, such as charge carrier mobility, conductivity, and band structure. Compound semiconductors, which include materials like gallium arsenide (GaAs), indium phosphide (InP), and various ternary and quaternary alloys, offer superior electron mobility, higher breakdown voltages, and efficient optoelectronic properties compared to conventional silicon-based semiconductors. These properties make them highly valuable for a wide range of advanced applications, including high newlinefrequency devices, optoelectronics, and photovoltaic systems. Electrical characterization techniques such as Hall effect measurements, current newlinevoltage (I-V) analysis, capacitance-voltage (C-V) profiling, and impedance newlinespectroscopy are commonly used to assess parameters like carrier concentration, mobility, resistivity, and trap density in compound semiconductors. The electrical characterization of compound semiconductors is essential for optimizing their performance in device applications. By providing a detailed understanding of key parameters such as mobility, carrier concentration, and trap densities, these techniques allow researchers and engineers to enhance the efficiency, speed, and reliability of semiconductor devices. The continued advancement in characterization methodologies is expected to further push the boundaries of newlinecompound semiconductor applications in fields such as telecommunications, optoelectronics, and renewable energy. The combination of these techniques allows for a comprehensive understanding of the electrical properties of compound semiconductors, enabling optimization for specific device applications. newlineKeywords: Compound semiconductors, Gallium arsenide (GaAs), Indium phosphide newline(InP).
