Application of Information Technology in the Collection Development Policy in State University Library in Purvanchal UP

Abstract

The study has been divided in eight chapters. The first chapter is introduction deals with collection development and its necessity, objectives, scope, research methodology etc. Chapter two is literature review in which related literature from 1996 to 2011 has been be arched and reviewed for the study. Chapter three describe the development of university libraries of Purvanchal U.P. Chapter four discuses various chapter of collection development and its policies in university libraries of Purvanchal U.P. Chapter five deals with information technology and its impact on collection development including e-resources, consortia and role of U.G.C. Chapter six discuss information technology programmers like computer technology storage of information, e-journals and users service, internet, e-resource. Chapter seven is results and discussions in which the data s collected out of questionnaire, interviews and observation have been analyzed, diagrams etc. The last chapter eight is conclusion in which findings of the studies have been highlighted and recommendations made.
