A bilingual gurmukhi roman online handwriting identification and recognition system

Abstract

Online handwriting recognition systems are considered to be the quick alternative of providing input to the computer programs as compared to the traditional method -Keystroke patterns- in real time scenario. Digitizer along with digital pen -Stylus- support environment, is used to generate handwriting strokes in these systems. The major complexity factor associated with these systems is to recognize the intermixed text generated with the use of more than one writing scripts having different character sets. The other challenges with online handwriting recognition systems are considered to be the familiarity level of writers with the digitizer and pen environment, complex shapes of different characters, different writing styles of writers etc. In this thesis, a complete system is proposed to recognize bilingual online handwritten intermixed -English and Punjabi- text. newline
