Abstract
Background and Objective
newlineChronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a condition in which there is improper blood flow in
newlinethe veins of the lower extremities, leading to issues such as skin discoloration, swelling, and
newlinepain (White et al., 2005). Prolonged standing, especially at work, is a major factor
newlinecontributing to CVI as it can lead to vein dilation and structural abnormalities (Pollack,
newline1949). The increased pressure in the leg veins can result in valve damage and incompetence
newline(Anderson, 2008). Physical activities like leg elevation, walking, and weight loss can help
newlinemanage CVI. Studies have shown that exercise can reduce venous hypertension and reflux
newlinevolume significantly (Ercan and Cem, 2017; Yang et al., 1999). Additionally, Yoga practices
newlinehave been found to be beneficial in reducing CVI and improving overall health (Naragatti and
newlineGupta, 2019).
newlineSpecific yoga poses, such as inverted poses, can aid in improving blood flow back to the heart
newlineand enhancing calf muscle function. Techniques like präëäyäma and bandha create
newlinenegative pressure in the body, increasing venous return. Overall, these practices can have
newlinepositive effects on CVI and help in repairing damaged veins (Muktibodhananda, 1998;
newlineNaragatti and Gupta, 2019). Studies have shown that yoga interventions can lead to significant
newlineimprovements in varicosity and stress levels in patients with CVI. Beneficial role of yoga and
newlinenaturopathy in the management of uncomplicated varicose vein found in the study of
newlineChauhan et al. (2023).
newlineIn addition, Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy), an elevated level of the amino acid
newlinehomocysteine, is associated with various vascular disorders, including CVI and deep vein
newlinethrombosis (Woo et al., 1997).
newlineTherefore, the present study was designed to investigate the impact of yoga in reducing the
newlineinflammation in blood vessels by lowering Homocysteine level. This might slow down the
newlineprogression of CVI and improve symptoms of venous insufficiency, ultimately enhancing the
newlinequality of life for industry workers who spend long hours standi
