The IEEE 802.15.4 is a popular technical standard used in daily life applications of newlinelow-power wireless sensors. It is a standard for defining the operation of a low-rate newlinewireless personal area network (LR-WPAN). This standard specifies the MAC and newlinePHY layers for LR-WPANs, and is maintained by the IEEE 802.15 working group. The newlinestandard was defined in 2003. The MAC and PHY layers of IEEE 802.15.4 serves as newlinethe foundation for several higher-layer protocols including ZigBee, WirelessHart®, and newline6LoWPAN, among others. The most popular version, the IEEE802.15.4.2006 used for newlinelow-power radio technology in Industrial IoT environments is prone to interference as newlinewell as does not support determinism because of the single channel operation. However, newlinemany industrial applications need low-power and better determinism. To incorporate newlineprovisions for low-power and determinism, modifications were introduced in the form newlineof IEEE802.15.4e to the above standard in the year 2012. These amendments were made newlinepart of IEEE802.15.4 standard in the year 2015. IEEE802.15.4e has five different MAC newlineprotocols defined to cater different application environments and TSCH is the most newlineprominent and popular MAC among the five MAC protocols. It supports low-power newlineconsumption, very high reliability and simple installation and maintenance. newlineDeterminism and low-power are the primary features of IEEE802.15.4e. newlineTSCH proposes a two-dimensional cell approach to the synchronous data transfer newlinewith time and frequency. Each cell has a unique time slot as well as a channel offset newlinespecified along with the type of activity such as transmission, reception, sleeping etc. newlineand is allotted for each pair of nodes. These slotted time slot approach results in lowpower operation. TSCH supports upto 16 channels every time slot for communication newlineagainst the single channel offered in IEEE802.15.4.2006 version.
