dc.description.abstractCell-Free massive MIMO (CFmM) is envisioned to be part of the beyond-5G wireless network owing to its attractive feature of higher and more uniform signal-to-noise ratio than its cellular counterpart, leading to higher spectral efficiency and user experience. However, CFmM faces several deployment issues which prevent its practical deployment. These issues are the cost and complexity of deployment and network synchronization. Given that CFmM has to be deployed across vast geographical terrain, it requires large numbers of cables (fronthaul links) from each access point to the central processing unit, which will impose a huge economic burden on the network operator, besides increasing the complexity of deployment. Moreover, the distance between different access points and the central processing unit may vary from one pair of user equipment-access point to another, making network synchronization difficult to achieve. Several architectures of CFmM are suitable for practical deployment, e.g., Radio Stripe and Unmanned aerial Vehicles. Radio Stripe is slated to provide ubiquitous connectivity anywhere and everywhere owing to its light weight and flexibility and is thus a potential candidate for beyond-5G wireless network. Moreover, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles hovering at some height have the ability of dynamic deployment and provide a Line-of-Sight link to each user equipment newline
