| dc.description.abstract | Cinema has its presence everywhere around the world. The film industry has been newlinedeveloped into a potent medium that does not only entertain the viewers but also newlinetransforms cultural ideologies, social beliefs, and commercial industries worldwide. newlineSince its beginning, filmmaking has impressed viewers through different stories. As newlinethe fact has been stated by many researchers that the youth is known to be a significant newlinesegment of the film audience, their film preferences are influenced by various newlinedemographic, sociographic, psychographic, and behavioural factors. Even though newlinethere s growing curiosity among scholars about how we consume media, not much newlineattention has been paid to what drives this group s preferences for mainstream films. newlineThis study Understanding Commercial Film Viewership Preferences Among newlineCollege-Going Students seeks to find out what factors affect the film preferences of newlinecollege going students. Through this research, the researcher aims to contribute newlinevaluable knowledge to the filmmakers, industry professionals, and media scholars. A newlinesurvey was done using a questionnaire. It was shared both in person and online. The newlinedata was collected from 2000 students studying in different colleges in the NCR region newlineand Dehradun. The sample included students from many study fields and the newlineresearcher has used T-tests, ANOVA, and regression analysis to understand how these newlinefactors are related to film preferences across 13 film genres. The notable findings from newlinethis study suggest that the age of college going students has a significant influence on newlinetheir genre preferences. The study found that younger students prefer genres full of newlinethrill and excitement such as action and animation, while older students prefer newlineintellectual content found in genres such as history and sci-fi. Gender-based newlinepreferences reveals that the male students prefer intense genres while female students newlineprefer emotional content.
