Abstract
This thesis explores perishable queueing inventory models with random common lifetimes for commodities. Introduces fundamental concepts relevant to the thesis. Two Commodity Queueing System Analyzes a system with random lifetimes and inventory management via a continuous review policy. It examines customer types, Poisson arrival processes, and steady-state characteristics using matrix geometric approach.Instantaneous Replenishment: Focuses on a special case with instant replenishment, assessing system characteristics such as customer waiting times and reorder rates.Phase Type Distribution Model: Investigates a perishable inventory system with random lifetimes organized through a four-dimensional Markov process, highlighting various performance metrics and cost function analysis.
newlineSubstitutable Commodities System: Analyzes a system with substitutable commodities under continuous review, detailing inventory levels, replenishment policies, and service time distributions.Markovian and Poisson Demands: Examines a dual commodity system, utilizing different demand processes and inventory control policies, and analyzing system performance under various scenarios.Numerical illustrations and cost function assessments are provided throughout to illustrate model dynamics and performance impacts.
