newlineA Mobile Adhoc Network consists of different mobile nodes in which each node acts
newlineas host and router to transfer and receive messages from others nodes. MANET network
newlinecan be setup at any time without the need of any fixed infrastructure. The various
newlineimportant characteristics of MANET are dynamic topology, infrastructure-less
newlinenetwork, node mobility, no centralized control and limited bandwidth etc. If nodes are
newlinewithin the range of each other, the information is sent through single hop
newlinecommunication. In multi-hop communication, the information is sent through
newlineintermediate nodes. The routing protocols in MANETs can be grouped into three main
newlinetypes: proactive, reactive, and hybrid routing protocols. Proactive routing protocols,
newlinealternatively known as table-driven routing protocols, involve each node maintaining a
newlinerouting table that contains information about routes to all possible destinations. Due to
newlinemobility of nodes in network, proactive routing protocol regularly updates the routing
newlinetable. Reactive routing protocols, also called on-demand routing protocols, establish
newlineroutes only when the source node needs to communicate with a specific destination.
newlineDynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV)
newlineare frequently utilized reactive routing protocols. Each node in MANET is cooperative
newlineand genuine which are the assumptions taken in the routing protocol. However, due to
newlinethe dynamic topology, openness and without centralized control administration,
newlineMANET is vulnerable to various attacks like black hole, gray-hole and flooding attacks
newlineetc. Therefore, security is the main prime concern in MANET communication. In this
newlinethesis, the impact of black hole, gray-hole and flooding have been studied and
newlinetechniques have been proposed to deal with the black hole, gray-hole and flooding
newlineattacks. The proposed techniques have been implemented in widely used network
newlinesimulator NS2. The results obtained through NS2 simulator have been evaluated based
newlineon various performance metrics, including packet d
