Abstract
The Terahertz (THz) band of frequencies (0.1-10 THz) help to overcome the spectrum
newlinescarcity limitation of the current wireless network, by providing large bandwidth and data
newlinerate and fills the gap between electronics and photonics. Terahertz communication is a
newlinepromising technology that could potentially revolutionize wireless communications.
newlineVarious antenna designs with characteristics that are suitable for short range THz
newlinecommunication, including 5G and beyond are presented in this research work. The study
newlineaims numerous design techniques that are used to create high performance THz antennas.
newlineIt also aims to look at cutting-edge techniques for designing terahertz antennas exhibiting
newlineboth linear and circular polarization. Different kinds of compact planar antennas
newlineexhibiting wide bandwidth with circular polarization are presented. The diverse antenna
newlineconfigurations in this range of frequencies viz microstrip, slotted waveguide, substrate
newlineintegrated waveguide, Yagi Uda, and Luneburg lens integrated with substrate lens
newlineantennas are thoroughly investigated. THz antennas have several uses besides data
newlinetransmission, including sensing, astronomy, imaging, detection, and spectroscopy. THz
newlineantenna with wide axial ratio bandwidth with beam steering ability is another research
newlineconcern. Investigation on antenna gain improvement in order to overcome the
newlinepropagation loss has been carried out by embedding various techniques like slotted array
newlineand patch array in the antenna design. Another area of focus in this research is the design
newlineof THz antennas with beam steering capability which mitigates the multipath fading
newlineissues and helps to precisely direct the beam to their intended destination. Innovative
newlinetechniques of beam scanning with modified slotted array as well as with integration of
newlineLuneburg lens and substrate lens are also illustrated. In all the research findings, critical
newlineantenna parameters are simulated, verified and analyzed for optimum performance.
