Effectiveness of Behaviour Change Communication Package on RTI Among Married Women at Selected Villages

Abstract

An experimental community based randomized controlled study was conducted on the effectiveness of the behaviour change communication package on RTI among married women in selected villages. under Kundrathur Primary Health Center (PHC) in Tamil Nadu. The main aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the behaviour change communication package (BCCP) on RTI symptoms, health seeking behaviour, knowledge, attitude and practice regarding reproductive tract infection among married women compared with the control group. About 6 villages were randomly selected for this study. A total of 1154 married women with RTI symptoms were identified. In phase I individual teaching and in phase II, individual counseling were given in their residence. At the end of the 2nd and 4th month reinforcement was given to the study group. Health Seeking Behaviour (HSB) questionnaire, knowledge questionnaire, attitude Scale and practice check list were given to all the participants in the control group. There was no correlation between HSB and attitude. There were a negligible correlation between knowledge- attitude, practice, and attitude-practice. RTI symptoms were significantly reduced.
