Abstract
newline Diaspora is a notable topic in contemporary literature. It is connected to
newlinealienation, rootlessness, nostalgia, and dislocation of the immigrant from their
newlinenative country. It happens because of the disperse of the people from their
newlinehomeland, either voluntarily or by force. It usually deals with the emotions of
newlineimmigrants. This suffering forces them to search for self and true identity.
newlineEspecially Indian women as immigrants in the host land are torn between
newlineworlds of homeland and host land.
newlineDiasporic writings express the dealings of native culture with the culture
newlineof an adopted alien land and bring about changes in the inherited tradition and
newlineculture of the immigrant. It is a medium to illuminate the emotional and psychic
newlineconsequences of the immigrant and helps in searching for self-identity and self
newlinedefinition.
