dc.description.abstractnewline Field experiments were conducted under protective irrigation during rabi newline2012-13 and 2013-14 at the Agricultural Research Station, Hagari, Ballari on medium newlinedeep black soils. The first experiment comprised of four main plot treatments viz., newlinerecommended dose of fertilizer (RDF) i.e., 90:90:60 kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1 (M1), RDF + newlinefarm yard manure (FYM) at 8 t ha-1 (M2), 85% RDF + FYM at 8 t ha-1 (M3) and 60% newlineRDF + FYM at 8 t ha-1 (M4) and four sub-plot treatments viz., control (S1), foliar newlineapplication of 19:19:19 water soluble NPK fertilizer at 2% at 25 and 40 DAS (S2), newlinefoliar application of 17:44 water soluble NP fertilizer at 2% at 25 and 40 DAS (S3) and newlinefoliar application of urea at 2% at 25 and 40 DAS (S4). newlineApplication of RDF + FYM at 8 t ha-1 recorded significantly higher seed yield newline(2,403 kg ha-1), oil yield (979 kg ha-1), net returns (and#1048576; 34,680 ha-1) and B:C ratio (2.25). newlineFoliar application of 19:19:19 at 2% at 25 and 40 DAS (S2) recorded significantly newlinehigher seed yield (2,233 kg ha-1), oil yield (905 kg ha-1), net returns (and#1048576;31,680 ha-1) and newlineB:C ratio (2.19). Interaction of RDF + FYM at 8 t ha-1 along with foliar application of newline19:19:19 at 2% at 25 and 40 DAS recorded higher seed yield, oil yield, net returns and newlineB:C ratio. newlineThe second experiment comprised of fourteen treatments with different N/P newlinefertilizer ratios (0.80, 1.00, 1.20, 1.30 and 1.40) with different levels of N (60 to 126 kg newlineN ha-1) and P (60 to 90 kg P2O5 ha-1) in addition to K fertilization at 60 kg K2O ha-1. newlineThe N/P fertilizer ratio of 1.40 with nitrogen at 126 kg ha-1 and phosphorus at newline90 kg ha-1 produced significantly higher seed yield (2,523 kg ha-1), oil yield newline(1,019 kg ha-1), net returns (and#1048576; 40,770 ha-1) and B:C ratio (2.49). newlineApplication of additional 36 kg nitrogen to the recommended dosage with 2% newlinefoliar spray of 19:19:19 at 25 and 40 DAS increase yield and returns.
